Enjoy a Family Vacation in Tampa Bay

Known for being family-friendly, this region has pulled out all the stops on fun. With its bay and inland waterways there are plenty of sea and sun activities, as well as many popular nearby attractions.

In downtown Tampa, get acquainted with the area by climbing aboard the Pirate Water Taxi, which makes over 14 stops conveniently located along the Riverwalk, Channel District and Davis Island. Along the way, enjoy some whimsical historical narration.

One of the most popular amusements in Tampa is The Florida Aquarium, one of the top aquariums in the country. Sharks, alligators and penguins are among the creatures to be admired here. Immerse yourself in interactive programs like Dive with the Sharks, Shark Swim and Swim with the Fishes, or take a Wild Dolphin Tour onboard a 72-foot catamaran.

Another sea habitat can be seen at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, home to more than 40 rescued dolphins, sea turtles, river otters, stingrays, nurse sharks, and more. 

For even more animal attractions, go to ZooTampa at Lowry Park. This zoo has won many awards for animal preservation, with an emphasis on endangered and threatened species from climates similar to Tampa Bay. The zoo now cares for more than 1,300 animals.

You will also want to visit Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. This theme park is recognized for being an entertainment company that blends imagination with nature. Enjoy rides and roller coasters, animal experiences, world-class shows and events, safaris and tours. The Serengeti Plain, a 65-acre habitat, is home to many African animals, including reticulated giraffes, rhinos, wildebeests, antelope and ostriches, which can be seen from the Serengeti Railway, Skyride and various walkways. For thrill seekers, Busch Gardens has added an exciting new spin coaster, which travels at 40 miles per hour and features a 70-foot vertical lift.

Across the street from Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay is Adventure Island, 30 acres of waterpark fun with high-speed thrills and tropical, languid surroundings. New at Adventure Island, hurtle high and experience a feeling of weightlessness on Colossal Curl, Adventure Island’s newest family thrill slide.
