Waikiki, a popular tourist area, has plenty of great restaurants, shopping, hotels, and a vibrant nightlife. Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial are must-see attractions. In downtown Honolulu, you can see Iolani Palace, the home of Queen Liliuokalani, as well as other state capital historical buildings and monuments.

If you are staying within the Waikiki area, you can get around on The Bus. If you plan to venture farther, you may want to rent a car for at least a day or two. Be sure to go to Haunama Bay, which is popular for scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming. Then head over to Kualoa Ranch to take a tour of the movie sets where “Jurassic Park,” “Pearl Harbor,” “50 First Dates,” and other films were shot. To experience the heritage of the South Seas region, visit the Polynesian Cultural Center. Also be sure to see Waimea Valley, a 1,875-acre historical park that leads the way to Waimea Falls.

Maui is just a 40-minute plane ride from Oahu. Here you must visit Haleakala National Park, perfect for viewing the sunset or sunrise, since the summit is 10,000 feet high. Hike, explore Hawaii’s natural habitats, or just enjoy its beautiful scenic views. Be sure to also see beautiful Wailua Falls and take the road to Hana, a long drive, but with many points of interest.

Lahaina, Maui’s capital, is filled with restaurants, shopping and nightlife. There are also several working plantations and farms throughout the island that can be visited. Take a Maui Gold Pineapple Tour and see the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum.
Kauai is known for its agriculture and natural beauty. If you are looking for somewhere laid-back to get away from it all, this is the place for you. Waimea Canyon, also known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” is a must-see.

You can take a train ride on the Kauai Plantation Railway, which gives you the history of the Hawaii railway, its agriculture and plantation days.

Hawaii (the Big Island) is known for its volcanoes. Kilauea volcano is currently erupting and can be seen from the observatory unit at the Volcano National Park. Say Aloha to the Hawaiian Islands.

High elevation, cloud coverage, and rich volcanic soil make the Big Island ideal for growing coffee beans, and several coffee farms offer tours. Macadamia nuts are also grown on the islands. At Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. in Hilo you can actually see how the nuts are processed.
